New Teufort City and Municipality - Info

History:

For being such a big city, New Teufort's history is very young. Originally the only settling in the area was a small fishing village called Shorefolk, mentioned in the sources as late as around the 1300's. Findings of smaller settlements in the area date back to the 800's AD. The city itself wasn't founded untill around the early 1860's when ex-emigrants moved back to Britain from Teufort, Badlands US, because of the conflicts between the Mann Brothers over the gravel landscapes. Instead of investing in coal, gravel or oil the city of New Teufort invested in whaling between the 1820's to around 1950. Between the 1850's and the 1980's the city was the main economical center of the whole RED vs BLU-conflict's weaponry and the next biggest Mann Co warehouse was set in the city of New Teufort. This led to a few RED vs BLU-conflicts in the outskirts of New Teufort as well between the early 1900's untill around 1980. The city was struck by an economical crisis in 1994 centered around the global bankrupsy of Mann Co which widened the gap between rich and poor further than possible and corruption and crime got an organised hold of New Teufort, both as consequences of the economical crisis and remnants of the RED vs BLU conflicts. Today the city is considered to be one of Britain's most divided and, at the southern parts of the city, most dangerous cities.

Geographical position:

New Teufort is set in Cumberland, North Western England, almost at the border to Scotland, with a fine view towards Ireland. It is a coastal city, noticable for its international trading routes, mainly led by Leigh Trading Company.

New Teufort is district-wise very divided. It's quite easy to navigate around the city because of it's diversity between north, south, west or east.

The North:

The North is noticeable for having some of the city's finest neighbourhoods. It is where some of the richest and finest people of New Teufort live, including some of the city's most forwards businessmen, leading economes and municipal politicians. It's famous for its clean nature  and fine suburban areas, built in a national romantic- or even Jugend-ish style.

The South:

The South is the most economically broken district of the city. It's also where some of the poorest civilians of the city live. At some places there are several slum neighbourhoods. Corruption and crime is widely spread. It's also where the majority of conflicts between criminal gangs take place.

The city center is notable for the majority of the city's economical activity, where of one of the highest buildings is the Lund Trade Center from where the city's most forwards firms control their business.


St. Bartholomew’s Island:

St. Bartholomew's Island is a small island outside of New Teufort. It is a natural reservatory but unfortunantly nothing much lives there and the only sign of former population is a now abandoned lighthouse. Around the sea way between the Whale Bay and St. Bartholomew's Island there have been several spottings of weird shadows, similar to the shape of sails. Speculations includes everything from smuggler boats to whales.

During a crime investigation at the island a few weeks later it was cleared up that the mysterious sail like shapes were actually fins from a pod of orcas inhabiting the coasts of New Teufort, feeding on the rich fishing grounds caused by an algal bloom.
